Weihnachtsgrußwort an unsere Partnerstädte in Europa

Christmas greetings to our twin towns in Europe - Salutations de Noël à nos villes jumelles en Europe

Weihnachtsgrußwort an unsere Partnerstädte in Europa

Liebe Freunde in Europa,

Christmas greetings to our twin towns in Europe

Dear friends in Europe,

We have thought of you so often this year during this tough and difficult time. In solidarity with our twin towns we raised all our flags in front of the town hall, a small sign of our strong bond. With this in mind, we would like these Christmas greetings that we are sending you today by radio to be understood ... to Châtillon-sur-Seine in France, to Esneux and Walcourt in Belgium, to Ribe in Denmark, to Strängnäs in Sweden, to Sopot in Poland.

We are so sorry we didn't see each other this year. We would have loved to come to beautiful Walcourt and meet all of our friends there, including those from Châtillon-sur-Seine and Esneux. We would have loved to visit Ribe on the occasion of the celebrations for the “100th anniversary of the German-Danish border treaties”. Young people from Ratzeburg in particular were very much looking forward to the local climate camp and the invitation to return to Sopot for a youth exchange on the future of Europe. Unfortunately, Corona kept separating us from each other. So we could only follow from a distance, with great concern about what Corona would do. The news here in Ratzeburg was always so terrible, sad and ubiquitous.

We hope so much that the coming year will turn things around, to be able to welcome our European friends in Ratzeburg. Above all, to discuss our partnerships again, to find new topics and to develop them further for and with our curious youth. Above all, however, we hope that the Christmas season with families and friends will be possible in all of our twin towns and that worries about Corona can somewhat ease. With this in mind we will think of you in Ratzeburg.

Merry Christmas from the island town and that we will stay connected in partnership... this is our wish to our twin towns.
